Post Haste: Remember that time Marching 110 alums fought Miami football players? Seigfred mural to be rededicated

The fight happened at the 1992 Homecoming game.

Good morning. Here's what you need to know for Friday, Oct. 9, 2015:

Reminder: Ohio football will take the field against archrival Miami during this weekend’s Homecoming celebration.

Another reminder: In 1992, Miami’s football team fought the Marching 110’s alumni band — during the Homecoming game. A video of the kerfuffle is below.

Former Post reporter and current Playboy editor Joe Donatelli recounts the event in his ebook, The Marching Band Refused to Yield.

To summarize, Miami’s football team began warming up for the second half in front of the band during its halftime performance.

Marching 110 alumni weren’t happy about this, so they formed a human barrier between the team and the band. Shortly after, onlookers saw a Miami football player underneath a band member.

Have things changed since 1992? We’ll find out Saturday.
