Student Senate will vote to appoint new members

Ohio Univeristy Student Senate will be opening its doors for new members at their second meeting of the academic year Wednesday night. The body will vote on two resolutions, both focusing on filling vacancies within the Budget Committee and Women’s Affairs Commission.

Senate will be voting on the appointments of Austin Salyers and Jon Schlosser to the Budget Committee. Salyvers, a senator from the College of Health Sciences and Professions, and Schlosser, a South Green Senator, will begin their appointments@taylor_snyder01immediately if appointed.

“I think they’ll do a good job,” University Life Commissioner Jacob Haskins said. “They’re both very competent.”

Vice President Courteney Muhl said she is excited about the appointment of Salyers and Schlosser as well as the completion of the Budget Committee.

“(Finishing up) budgets is big for us because we can now start hearing budgets and moving forward,” Muhl said.

Following a process of applications and interviews, Senate Executives have decided upon appointing three new delegates to the Women’s Affairs Commission: Kentisha Dinham, Alison Harper and Abigail Koehl.

Women’s Affairs Commissioner Cassidy Paul praised Dinham on her success regarding individual projects, and said all three women come highly recommended and have experience to back up their appointments.
Newly appointed Ombudsperson Mac Stricklen will give also be giving a presentation during the meeting where he will be overviewing the role of ombudsperson, including how faculty and students are able to get in touch with him.

“Stricklen has done a great job at putting himself out there,” Muhl said.
