The Ohio University Police Department is investigating its third reported case of rape for the fall semester.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 2, an OUPD officer responded to a report of “possible sexual assault by a known acquaintance” in Washington Hall. According to the police report, the crime was determined to be rape, and alcohol was listed as a factor.
The incident is the fourth sex crime reported to the department so far this year, following two earlier reports of rape and an incident involving solicitation.
OUPD reported two sex-related crimes during the 2016 summer semester, in addition to 10 during the 2016 spring semester and 16 during the fall semester of 2015, according to a previous Post report.
