Good Morning,
Today marks the two-year anniversary of an event that changed the landscape of uptown Athens.
On Nov. 16, 2014, a fire swept through a number of properties on West Union Street, damaging numerous storefronts and forcing business owners to either rebuild or close altogether.
After months of planning and rebuilding, construction is nearly complete on new storefronts, and many businesses have reopened.
The Union Bar and Grill, 18 W. Union St., reopened in May of this year. 10 West, a clothing store located at 10 W. Union St. opened in September, followed by a storefront for the Ohio University Credit Union located at 12 W. Union St.
Another space will be occupied by a currently unnamed restaurant.
