Sporting Insights: Lebron James and Phil Jackson feud still making waves in the NBA

The current fight between Phil Jackson and LeBron James is so, so dumb. I cannot believe that things have escalated as much as they have.

It all started when Jackson made comments on how James likes to have things his way. He provided an example of when James was with the Miami Heat and wanted to stay in Cleveland over night, instead of flying to their next city.

It was random and odd that Jackson even talked about James, but Jackson is very old and can do whatever he wants at this point. He does not care about much at this point. He’s only running the New York Knicks because owner James Dolan begged him and gave him 10 million a year to do so. Jackson has made many interesting decisions so far with the Knicks, to say the least, but that is a whole different story.

One of James’ business partners, Maverick Carter, did not take kindly to Jackson’s remarks. He especially did not like how Jackson used the word "posse" to talk about him and the rest of Lebron’s close friends. Carter then spun it to make Jackson look like an idiot by posting a picture of a definition of posse that says “a body of men, typically armed, summoned by a sheriff to enforce the law." Carter and James went on to say that the term posse offends them. Um, what?

The term posse should not offend anybody. That derogatory definition for posse hasn’t been used in a long time. To be honest I think Carter had no idea what posse meant so he Googled it and that came up, so he ran with it. I understand Carter being mad that someone called out one of his good friends, but the way he responded made him look like a moron.

According to ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols, the reason James wanted to stay in Cleveland an extra night was because it was Thanksgiving. James ended up hosting the whole team to a dinner. If they did not do that, they would have had Thanksgiving dinner in a conference room. I do not understand why Carter did not respond by stating that. It would of been perfect. Carter chose to claim a harmless word offends him, instead. Then again, you can say anything offends you in our society these days.

This stupid fight should have never happened. Jackson probably should not be talking about James, and Carter should not have responded like a total idiot. I do hope that Carter has not been losing much sleep over the word posse because that word is so “offensive.”
