Bank robbery on Court Street leaves police looking for leads

The Athens Police Department is looking for leads following a bank robbery Tuesday afternoon.

According to a statement from APD, the police department is seeking a tall, blonde, female suspect after a robbery occurred at Peoples Bank, 1 N. Court Street, shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses described the suspect as wearing a pastel, striped stocking cap and a black jacket. Officers could not locate the suspect immediately following the incident.

According to the statement, the subject did not appear to be armed. No one was injured during the incident.
