Pet Instagram Review: Adorable and furry Tasmanian devils

Once again, this blog will stray a bit away from the “pet” portion of the title, in an effort to diversify the types of animals featured. This week we’ll take a look at Devil Ark (@devil_ark), a breeding facility for Tasmanian devils in Barrington Tops National Park in Australia with more than 2,400 followers. Tasmanian devils are marsupials and are therefore related to kangaroos and koalas, according to the San Diego Zoo. In addition, they are known to produce a “foul odor” under stress, so if you happen to encounter one, try not to stress it out.

Quality of Pictures

Most of the pictures on this account seem to be taken on a professional camera, which allows for some high-definition views of these little mammals. There are also a few adorable videos, in which you can see the devils running around and acting like dogs and letting the handlers rub their bellies. Something you probably didn’t realize from seeing Taz in the Looney Tunes series was how small these animals really are — they pretty much look like tiny dogs. One picture even shows a little devil posing with his broken arm in a tiny little cast, which will really tug on your heartstrings.

Rate of Posts

The account averages only a few posts per week, so it doesn’t have the most dedicated overseer. Nevertheless, you’ll probably see enough of the furry guys to keep you satisfied. If you’re following as many pet accounts as I am, you might not even notice the difference.

Cuteness of Pet

Until I saw a video on Facebook, I didn’t realize how cute these animals really are. Despite their name, Tasmanian devils are sweet and cute, and even though they aren’t meant to be pets you can enjoy their social media presence through this account. You’ll probably end up being jealous of their lucky handlers who get to hang out with the critters all day.

Rating: 4/5

After last week’s scathing review, I felt a more lighthearted blog was in order. Although the account doesn’t post very often, it features an unusual and adorable animal that you won’t want to miss. And, if you’re feeling extra generous, you can donate to the organization through the link on their profile.
