The Athens city-wide boil order has been lifted, according to an update from the City of Athens.
The City of Athens sent out the update at about 11 a.m.
On Thursday morning, the city issued a boil order at about 10 a.m. for all customers because of a water main break.
The water main break happened on West State Street in the main line going from the water plant to the Highland Reservoir.
Due to the water main break, Ohio University’s main campus closed Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m before reopening later that day at 8 p.m.
