Back to Bobcat Basics: Make winter easier with these must-haves

Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow and officially announced that winter is here to stay for six more weeks, but I think the calendar could have told us that. Finally, harsher temperatures and freezing winds have touched Athens after a bout of unseasonably mild conditions. Reality has inevitably hit me and my least favorite season is here to stick around, so I might as well make the best out of it and talk about a few of my favorite winter accessories and beauty necessities.

1. Body and Face Moisturizer

Chilling winds and freezing cold do not mix well when it comes to your skin. We’ve all had dry, irritated and cracked hands and skin. Self-care is really important, especially in the winter, so you should definitely stock up on a moisturizer that suits your skin type and will protect you from winter’s icy grips. If you’re looking for a lotion that is environmentally friendly, healthy for your body and will last forever, I recommend Lush Cosmetics’ Dream Cream.

2. Reusable Coffee Mug

Alright, this one seems a little silly to mention, but during the winter I often find myself reaching for a hot beverage several times a day to wake up and warm up. If you’re going to get coffee seven times a day, you should just bring your own cup. It'll be cheaper, cuter and more environmentally friendly.

3. Fuzzy Socks

A girl’s best friend and a feeling that you’re carrying a part of your pajamas around all day, what could be better? Wear them under your boots, with leggings, with jeans, but just do yourself a favor a get a few pairs.

4. Dark and Nude Lip Stains

Winter is a great time to try out dark lip shades and flaunt nude lip tones because they work perfectly with warm and dark clothes. I would stick with lip stains because they are easier to maintain throughout the day. Lastly, a good winter tip would be to put a thin layer of lip balm underneath your lip stain in order to prevent that cracking and peeling look.

Even though winter is quite miserable for a lot of us, at least you can ease the burden of Mother Nature’s cold heart with few warm, cute and practical purchases.
