Good morning,

St. Patrick’s Day may not be until Friday, but Green Beer Day is today.

Get ready to see Bobcats clad in St. Patty’s Day attire drinking pitchers of green beer from early in the morning to late in the evening.

The Miami University-born tradition came to Athens when OU operated on the quarter system, according to a previous Post report. The quarter system caused Spring Break to fall on St. Patrick’s Day each year, so Green Beer Day began gave students a chance to celebrate.

In case you’re wondering: The beer is typically dyed green by distributors, not the bars themselves.
