A fallen power line on Rock Riffle Road has caused outages for about 1,000 Athens residents Thursday afternoon.
Some Uptown businesses announced on Twitter that their power was down. Power also went out on Clarke Street, West Stimson Avenue and Elliot Street, Jessica Wright, a spokeswoman for American Electric Power, said.

She projected the power would be fixed between 3:45 and 4 p.m.
Brenen's Coffee Cafe announced on Twitter its power returned around 3:25 p.m.
