Russian authorities are investigating fidget spinners because of concerns of “an aggressive promotion of spinners.” It was reported that opposition activists are using the toys to bring in supporters, the Associated Press reported this week. That being said, let’s catch up on this week’s fun news:
1. A 9-year-old boy tripped and found a fossil
When I fell down as a child, I ended up with a scraped knee and crying. When Jude Sparks tripped in November, he made a heck of a paleontological discovery, the New York Times reported.
At first, Sparks and his family thought the fossil could be the remains of an elephant or a cow skull. However, Peter Houde, a biology professor at New Mexico State University, identified it as a Stegomastodon, which could have lived 1.2 million years ago.
2. Lost dog made it home after nine months in the mountains
Mo, a 12-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, went missing in September 2016 in the mountains of Idaho. Darwin and Cindy Cameron had many false alarms of finding Mo over the previous nine months, the Idaho Statesman reported, but after some persuasion they made the trip to see the dog Cheri Glankler had rescued. They were skeptical that the dog was Mo at first, but quickly realized who she was.
After Mo returned to her home, she knew how to get around it perfectly. The Camerons are working on getting Mo healthy again after losing 50 percent of her body weight.
“Who saved Mo? Mo saved Mo,” Glankler told the Idaho Statesman. “Even here when I would take her out on a lead, she was searching. She knew who she was looking for. She’s incredible.”
3. A 15-year-old boy became a railway’s Twitter spokesperson
That's it for #AskEddie. Thanks for all the questions, sorry I couldn't answer everyone ^Eddie pic.twitter.com/PAAlTKHu5I

People fell in love with Eddie. The 15-year-old became the official tweeter of Southern Rail, the Washington Post reported, and questions came flooding in. In contrast to the railway’s typical mentions which included complaints and problems, people asked Eddie the questions that mattered.
Ketchup. But of course, it has to be @HeinzKetchup_US . ^Eddie

Julia "Hurricane" Hawkins set a world record in her age group when she finished a 100-meter dash in just over 40 seconds at the USA Track and Field Masters Outdoor Championships at Louisiana State University, Fox News Insider reported.
"At this age, you're not getting better. You're getting worse," she told Fox. "You only have so many 100-meter dashes left. You have to save them." She even joked that she missed her nap for the race. I’m proud of her!
