TV Review: 'Life of Kylie' premiere aims to show the 'real' Kylie Jenner

Throughout the 13 seasons and 195 episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we have had an inside glimpse into the lives of one of the most famous families on reality television. On Sunday, Life of Kylie hit the small screens in attempt to show viewers the “real” Kylie Jenner.

The show opened with Kylie explaining how her life is not what it seems. “There are two sides of me,” the nineteen-year-old tells the producers. One is the image she constantly feels pressure to keep up with, and the other is the real Kylie, the person her friends get to see.

One thing Kylie makes sure to let the viewers know is that she has never been able to live a normal life. The cameras from Keeping Up started following her and her family at the young age of nine. She shares that her fans have always reached out to her requesting that she would do crazy things. But, the most common, was prom.

Jordyn Woods informs Kylie that there was a fan named Albert Ochoa that needed a date and wanted to take her. Woods somehow had his mother’s number and calls her and finalizes the plans so her son could experience the prom he deserved. Jenner agrees for two reasons: the first her empathy for Albert because she often feels like an “outcast,” and the second was that she was homeschooled from such a young age because she was always working, so she never got to experience a normal life.

After minor plane problems, Kylie and her crew make it to Sacramento, surprise Albert and crash the prom — all in one night.

The episode continues with Kylie setting Jordyn up on a date, going to therapy and taking a peaceful walk on the beach with her friend, where she admits she wishes she could handle the fame like her half-sisters Kim and Kendall.

“They are made for this,” Kylie says. “And sometimes I wish I could do what they do. But that is not me.”

Out of the Kardashian and Jenner girls, Kylie has always been the one that shied away from the limelight. The series promotions promises to show us inside Kylie’s makeup empire, her relationship life and more. Life of Kylie is definitely a way for Jenner to show her fans the “real” her.

Life of Kylie airs Sundays at 9 pm on E!
