“Our story continues…”

Many questions were left unanswered with the season 1 finale of Riverdale. Is Archie (KJ Apa)’s father dead? Is Jughead (Cole Sprouse) really committed to the Serpents? Wednesday’s season 2 premiere episode may have answers some of the most anticipated questions. Here are some of the key moments from the season premiere.

Fred Andrews goes into a coma

After Archie rushes his father to the hospital upon being shot, Fred (Luke Perry) starts to go through a sequence of hallucinations, starting with Archie’s high school graduation. The man who shot him in Pop’s diner flashes in his mind, which quickly ends the hallucination. Fred ends up having three more hallucinations; the second one taking place in the future in Archie’s office, and Archie keeps saying that he has to leave him. The third one is Archie proposing to Veronica, and the fourth contains the wedding scene between Veronica and Archie. After all the hallucinations, Fred eventually wakes up from the coma. Fred waking up might not be the best thing considering he now has to live with immense trauma and he will probably continue to have hallucinations.

Evidence of the shooter arose

Archie was questioned by the police, and he said the only thing he could remember about the shooter was that he had green eyes. This stirs up a theory of who the potential shooter could really be. Another key piece of evidence is that Fred’s wallet is also missing. While the characters still have no idea who it could be, they can all agree that it’s likely a Serpent. Let the conspiracies begin.

Jughead comes to terms with being a Serpent

Jughead brings members of the Serpents to the hospital and questions them about the shooting. He then asks them to further investigate the case. Jughead also goes to back to Pop’s to look for Fred’s wallet but he sadly doesn’t find anything. It is later revealed that the Serpents are going to cover for Jughead so that he doesn’t have to move back with his foster parents. The Serpents even beat a guy up to prove they will protect Jughead at all costs.

Hiram Lodge is in Riverdale

Veronica (Camila Mendes)’s father Hiram (Mark Consuelos) shows up in Riverdale after being in prison and says that Veronica has changed, and he is not happy with her actions. The relationship between Veronica and her parents has always been tense, and it seems as though Veronica and her mother are constantly scared of Hiram and his power. Because of the past Hiram has with the city and of his imprisonment for embezzling money, him returning to Riverdale could create some tension.

Ms. Grundy dies

Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel) returns and is tutoring another teenage boy, which is interesting considering she already had an affair with a student. She does indeed kiss her new student on the lips, showing that she is still a predator. After the student leaves, her window appears to be open, and the same man that shot Fred sneaks up and chokes Ms. Grundy to death. The episode ends on yet another murder, which is could be foreshadowing for how the rest of the season is going to go.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
