Good Morning,

The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo have some new competition.

Yesterday, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Keurig Green Mountain announced an $11 billion merger plan to create a new beverage empire. The joint-venture, currently dubbed “KDP,” will be a new publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.

Several popular beverages, including Dr. Pepper, 7 Up, Snapple, Hawaiian Punch and all of Keurig’s licensed and partner coffee brands, will fall under a single corporate umbrella.

After news of the merger broke, Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s stock skyrocketed 24 percent to $118.75 Monday morning.
