For some students, bringing their sibling to town means getting to show them the bricks of Athens.

Ohio University offers activities from canvas painting to an escape room for sibs weekend, along with multiple sporting events. But for some students, their siblings are more interested in seeing what the campus looks like.

Katy Bickett is bringing her older sister for sibs weekend so she can introduce her to the City of Athens.

“I’m really excited for this weekend so I can spend time with my sister and show her what an amazing place Athens is,” Bickett, a sophomore studying political science, said.

Bickett is also planning on taking her sister to eat at Casa Nueva, going on a hike at Strouds Run State Park and going shopping at the stores Uptown.

Lauren Wertz, a freshman studying English, is planning on taking her younger brother and older sister to the Ohio men’s basketball game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Ohio will be playing Central Michigan.

During halftime of the men’s basketball game, there will be a team of dogs doing tricks with frisbees.

Wertz is also excited to show her siblings what OU’s campus looks like.

“I’m excited for them to come since I haven’t seen them since I came back this semester,” Wertz said. “My brother is still in high school so I’m excited to show him around campus.”

Like Bickett and Wertz, other students are looking forward to showing their siblings around Athens and OU’s campus.

Logan Linkhart, a freshman studying accounting, is having her older sister come to Athens for the weekend.

“I’m really close with my sister,” Linkhart said. “I live two hours from here and I haven’t seen her since Jan. 12 so I’m excited to catch up.”

Linkhart is also planning on showing her sister around the Ridges as well as East Green where she lives.

“She wants to see the Ridges,” Linkhart said. “She’s really into haunted things.”

Linkhard is also looking to take her sister to the shops Uptown as well as the bookstores. She is looking forward to showing Bluetique to her sister.

There is not one specific place Linkhard said she wants her sister to see; she wants to show her everything.

“I just want her to get a view of campus,” Linkhart said.
