OUPD is looking for an aggravated robbery suspect

The Ohio University Police Department is investigating an aggravated robbery by a man reported to have a knife.

OUPD tweeted at about 10:30 p.m. that the department was investigating an assault near OU’s compost facility on Dairy Lane.

A crime alert sent at 1 a.m. described the suspect as a man between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall and in his 40s or 50s with an average build, short hair and a mustache. He wore a camouflage jacket, a camouflage hoodie, blue jeans and boots, according to the crime alert.

A woman told police she was walking west on Dairy Lane when she encountered the man, and he was carrying a small knife. The man grabbed the woman, pulled her off the roadway and “stole property from her,” but she fought the man off, according to the crime alert.

The compost facility is about a mile away from Richland Avenue.

OUPD is investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to the incident can call OUPD at 740-593-1911 or send an anonymous tip to Crime Solvers Anonymous at 740-594-3331.
