Softball: Ohio to play weekend series against Akron

Ohio returns to Athens, after eight games on the road, to play a home series against Akron.

The teams will play a doubleheader Friday, starting at 2 p.m., followed by one game Saturday, scheduled to start at 12 p.m. The Bobcats currently lead the Mid-American Conference. They have only one conference loss, a 15-5 loss to Northern Illinois.

Ohio is ahead of Toledo by one game in the loss column in conference standings.

Ohio Standouts

The entire Bobcat lineup is hitting well.

In the doubleheader sweep Wednesday,  Alex Day, Katie Yun and Morgan Geno hit two home runs apiece. Day had eight RBIs in the games.

Danielle Stiene threw her 11th complete game. She will most likely find herself in the circle a lot, as Ohio’s ace.

She has 151 strikeouts so far in her senior season, good for a 8.74 strikeouts per seven innings. Stiene has accrued three MAC East Pitchers of the week.
