In honor of Heroes Day, four Army ROTC cadets repelled from the center catwalk of The Convo before the wrestling meet between Ohio and Kent State on Friday evening.

The cadets repelled from the roof to deliver the flip coin used to decide positioning before each match. The four cadets are all members of the varsity ranger team at Ohio University.

“It was a really fun experience to deliver the flip coin before the meet,” ROTC cadet Sean Brawley said. “If I get the chance, I definitely want to do it again.”

The tradition of repelling from the catwalk for sporting events at The Convo on Heroes Day dates back more than a decade. Heroes Day is celebrated worldwide on Jan. 21 in honor of a nation’s heroes throughout history.

“The long-standing sponsorship of the Heroes Day Game by Army ROTC is to show support for the OU Athletics and the OU Athletics recognition of Heroes Day,” Lt. Col. Terry St. Peter said.

Four different ROTC cadets will repel from the ceiling again at the Ohio men’s basketball game versus Miami on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. to deliver the game ball before tip-off.
