Ohio defensive-line and special-teams coordinator Pete Germano has accepted the same position at Fresno State under new head coach Tim DeRuyter, Ohio Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Tom Symonds confirmed today. 

Germano just completed his 11th year as a member of Ohio's coaching staff and was the only assistant retained when current Ohio head coach Frank Solich took over in 2005. He was the longest-tenured member on staff. 

DeRuyter served as Ohio's defensive coordinator from 1995 to 1998 and again from 2002 to 2004. 

Germano previously spent eight seasons as Ohio's recruiting coordinator and four seasons working with the tight ends. He is a Cleveland native and a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. There is no word yet on his replacement.
