In episode two, Annalise and her team battle in an intense showdown against investigators and a fearless prosecutor who attempted to expose all of this season's hidden secrets and drama.

The latest episode of How to Get Away with Murder was tough for Annalise (Viola Davis) and her team as they were attacked not only by the investigators from the Hapstall case, but were also blindsided by fearless prosecutor, Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns) in Nate’s (Billy Brown) preliminary hearing.

When last week’s episode of HTGAWM ended, we saw Wes (Alfred Enoch) running from a large ivory castle with quick shots showing Annalise inside the mansion, lying on the floor in a pool of blood gasping for air. In episode two, we learn a couple more details as to who might have been involved with shooting Annalise and why Wes might have been running away from the house.

Connor (Jack Falahee), the group’s “self-absorbed, pretty boy” — as described by his boo thang, Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) —  is seen hovered over Annalise’s bloody body, franticly quivering and quietly murmuring, “I didn’t mean to do this” and “It was your fault” to Annalise as she gasps for air.

We start to suspect that Connor may have had something to do with hurting Annalise, and not Wes. It could have actually been a collective group’s decision as we realize later in the episode that the whole gang (Michaela, Laurel, Connor and Wes) is running from the large castle, which happens to be the Hapstall’s family castle.

Speaking of the Hapstalls, new evidence is found in the sibling’s case that shows Caleb’s (Kendrick Sampson) DNA was found at the scene of their aunt’s murder in the last episode. It’s probably not the best time for Annalise and the team to pick up their case, but we know that Annaliese will somehow save the two sibs from receiving prison time or death row.

I’m certain that Annalise needed a break from those meddling Hapstall kids, so she thought sitting in on Nate’s preliminary hearing for her husband’s murder was probably the best way to relax from all the stress and drama. Instead, Annalise finds herself on the stand being queried by prosecutor Sinclair who asks her the tough questions pertaining to if she had anything to do with killing her husband.

It all started when Ms. Sinclair alluded to a former affair that attorney, Eve Rothlow — Annalise’s lover and Nate’s prosecutor — and Annalise’s had in the past, which almost gets Eve dismissed as Nate’s attorney because of their “former” connection (or should I say current?)

Annalise is then called to the stand, where Ms. Sinclair drills her with questions about her intimate affair with Nate. A lot of slut shaming was occurring as the prosecutor bashed and openly accused Annalise for having multiple affairs. Um, news flash Ms. Sinclair, it’s totally OK for Annalise to be sexually fluid and to have as many partners as she wants, when she wants. You shouldn’t shame her for her promiscuity, like that’s so not cool.

Then, Sinclair continues to drill Annalise with more questions about her relationship with husband Sam (Tom Verica) which leads to the most epic meltdown and comeback that left many in the courtroom in shock.

“I did not put my hand on the bible to be burned at the stake,” Annalise snaps.

Like, slay.

But, what I don’t understand is how she is apparently capable of murder just because she blew up in court. I mean, if I hear you antagonizing me all day, eventually I will get mad and blow up in your face. It doesn’t make sense, Ms. Sinclair. Anyone can get away with murder nowadays, not just people who blow up in the courtroom. But, you lost the hearing trial anyways so who cares I guess.

Total side note, but can we talk about Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and Connor’s friendship this season? I remember last season, they totally hated each other, until the very end when Michaela was going through the break up with her fiance.

Connor, who has been sexually frustrated a lot this season, was trying to help Michaela get with Levi (Matt Cohen), a new character and potential boy toy for Michaela. But be careful girl, something tells me that Levi isn't the good guy here. Something tells me that he's Eggs 911, the mystery contact that appears on Michaela's  phone which now makes him quite the suspicious suspect. At the end of the episode, we also find out that he knew Rebecca (Katie Findlay), after Wes looks at a photo from Rebecca's abandoned apartment.

Speaking of Connor, Oliver was on his way to give him keys to their apartment when he ran into Asher (Matt McGorry) who just couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Asher accidently told Oliver that Connor told the gang about him being HIV-positive.

Sure, that may have not been Connor’s best move to expose Oliver’s business, but it definitely wasn’t a smart move for Asher. We were rooting for you to be a better person this season, I guess that won’t happen.

There was also a lot of people standing up for themselves this episode. Bonnie (Liza Weil) stood up to Annalise. Plus, we now know that there is some sort of deep history between her and Bonnie that helped them “save” each other from a terrible situation in the past, or more particularly saved Bonnie from Annalise. Then Frank (Charlie Weber) stood up to Laurel (Karla Souza), in which he told her to stop using him for sex.

A lot of tension was sprewing in this episode. Of course more suspense is built because we find out that the same prosecutor, (Emily Sinclair) that was grilling Annaliese in court, ends up dead at the Hapstall's mansion in a later episode this season.

Now, that leads us up to a body count of five (Lila Stangard, Sam Keating, Rebecca, Aunty Hapstall and Emily Sinclair) who have or will soon be murdered in this series. As always, we are left at the edge of our seats, waiting for next week’s episode.
