Matthew McFarland will soon be vacating his post as Scioto County Magistrate.
McFarland was elected to the position of 4th District Court of Appeals Judge last night 56 percent to 44 percent over retired judge Douglas Bennett.
McFarland had 112,880 votes to Bennett's 89,175 votes.

McFarland said. We had a good team and we had a good plan and the good lord blessed us.
McFarland credited the victory to his great team of volunteers and his extensive personal campaigning in all the necessary counties.

McFarland said.
Additionally, McFarland said his youth, energy and diverse experience appealed to voters.
Bennett did not return repeated phone calls seeking comment.
