Ohio track travels to Findlay

Bobcats return to competition after weather forces them out of Marietta Open.

After missing a meet because of bad weather, Ohio is set to compete in Findlay this weekend.

The Bobcats were scheduled to travel to Marietta last weekend for the Marietta College Open, but because of weather conditions they were unable to go. The meet did take place, though only eight of 17 teams were able to compete.

Coach Clay Calkins said that because of losing the meet last weekend, this weekend's trip to Findlay will help the team get into their season. Several teams from the area will be competing at the event, including Adrian, Tiffin and Dayton.

Since we didn't get to compete over at Marietta this will help us get back into the swing of things and get back into the indoor season

Calkins said. Findlay is a great place to run and it's an extended meet. The competition issue; I know Cincinnati will be there and they have a great track and field program

Findlay has a great track and field program

so

we'll see what happens.

This meet will be the first for pole vaulter Boone Troyer. Troyer was out during the fall and the beginning of this season due to a hamstring injury. Doug Diehl, the pole vaulting coach, said that he is excited to see Troyer come back.

This is Boone Troyer's first week

Diehl said. That's a little bit of excitement and a little tentative

too

because he has been injured all fall quarter. It will be nice to see where he's at in terms of health. I'd say he's at about 90 to 95 percent health. We would like to see him at 100 by MAC Championships.

Diehl said he is also looking forward to the progress of the rest of the pole vaulting team.

I look for them to continue what they've been doing

Diehl said. Ashley (Dennison) and Rachael (Diehl) both had good opening meets. I'd like to improve on that. We also have the three freshmen boys that are vaulting. It's been real exciting. There is a lot of talent there.

Events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday and will continue through Saturday. The events will take place in the Malcolm Athletic Center.
