Bobcats get prepared to take down Bowling Green

The Ohio women's basketball team has proved to be a dominant force on its home court, winning six straight home games, but its opponents this weekend guard their territory just as well.

The Bobcats will compete against Mid-American Conference opponents Bowling Green (13-6 overall, 6-2 MAC), who have only one loss this season at home. The Bobcats (8-10, 4-3 MAC) will need to prove they can bring their A-game on the road.

The team has to be ready to play and ready to play hard

forward Ciara Iglehart said.

The Bobcats, who are on a two-game winning streak, have the momentum from an 85-73 win against Western Michigan on Wednesday, propelling them into this weekend's game.

This win (Western Michigan) gives us momentum going into the Bowling Green game guard Simone Redd said. They (the Falcons) are a good team and we have to go into the game playing how we know how to play and hopefully come out with a win.

Bowling Green is coming off an 80-44 home win against Northern Illinois on Wednesday night.

Ohio, who currently places second in the East Division, and Bowling Green, first in the West Division, face off for the 56th time in the schools' histories. Bowling Green has an edge over the Bobcats, winning the last two games, 73-72 and 76-55.

The team will need to minimize forward Liz Honegger, who leads the team offensively with a .472 shooting percentage, 14.2 points per game and 140 total rebounds. Another Falcon to be on the lookout for is forward Ali Mann, who averages 12.9 points per game.

Ohio has won seven of its last 11 games, including those six straight home wins. The team has had valiant efforts from forwards Kristian Kirkpatrick and Erin Isbell, averaging 11.5 points per game, and 7.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, respectively. The team also leads the MAC in offensive rebounds per game with 17.9.

We work hard on rebounding

coach Lynn Bria said. And when it comes to offensive and defensive rebounds

one is not more important than the other. It is one thing we have consistently done well every game and we work hard on it during practice.

Ohio can prove its ability to win on the road at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowling Green. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Ohio as part of the MAC women's basketball seven-game television package.
