From edible lotions to the nasty alphabet game, the latest craze among some Ohio University students -sex toy parties -has given a whole new meaning to the phrase girls' night out.
Four times a week Lois McBeath of Tasteful Treasures Inc. travels with her suitcases filled with tasteful toys to parties within an hour of her home in Point Pleasant, W. Va.
McBeath, who is booked every Saturday until April, said there has been an increase in requests for the parties, which are usually female only, since she started eight years ago. And lately she has noticed how open younger women have become to hosting and attending these parties.
Although (a sex toy party) sounds like a scandalous idea
it was good clean fun said Amanda Anderson, an OU junior who attended one last year. It was actually very informative. They didn't just have sex toys they had perfume
lotions and things like that.
McBeath said the women who attend the parties vary in all ages and classes because products range from $1 to $160.
The most popular items include the Bull Ring, a soft-jelly ring that slips over the penis for stimulation, and Coochy lotion, which is a conditioning shave cream, she said.
Some of Tasteful Treasures' cheaper products are the different flavored Nipple Drops, defined as great tasting drops to tantalize his taste buds
and Anal Eaze, which eases the discomfort of anal activity and can be used as a numbing gel before plucking eyebrows and removing splinters. Each of these products costs about $6.
A pricier item is the Elegant Whisper II rotating toy
which costs $130, and has 24 different levels and motions.
Aside from Tasteful Treasures, which rapidly is expanding in its central location of Virginia Beach, Va., and is starting to hit the West Coast, other companies, such as Pure Romance and Passion Parties, also host parties in the Athens area.
Bromley Hall Resident Assistant Kristin Meyer co-hosted a Passion Parties party last year for her residents in Treudley Hall last year.
It was funny how bold everyone was
she said.
Tasteful Treasures gives incentives for hosting parties; hosts get 10 percent in free merchandise based on how much partygoers spend. They also receive extra perks if more than 12 people attend the party or total sales of the party are more than $350.
Lauren DeLeo, an OU junior who hosted a Tasteful Treasures sex toy party with her roommates a couple weeks ago, said, We went to one last spring and decided it would be a fun idea to invite our friends over
drink and do something else than just hang out.
