One of the main tenets of journalism is keeping opinion and advocacy separate from news and reportage. In yesterday's edition of The Post, we failed in that responsibility. The headline for yesterday's article Host a sex toy party was inappropriate. Several copy editors and a staff editor review headlines each night, and last night they thought that headline was acceptable. However, after reflection we realize that the headline was out of place. The Post does not encourage anyone to host a sex toy party; the article was meant only to inform readers of a growing trend. On behalf of The Post, I apologize.
