Ohio pops in 15 goals, collars Miami offense

With eight minutes remaining in the Ohio hockey team's second game with rival Miami, Brandon Hanley found himself out of the penalty box and on a breakaway as a long pass met him alone behind the RedHawks' defense.

Hanley picked top-shelf over the Miami goaltender's blocker but was denied.

Despite Gang Green's chants of, Double digits! and an entertained sigh from the Ohio bench, not an Ohio fan in Bird Arena was truly disappointed with the outcome of the breakaway.

Hanley was going for his fourth goal of the night, having already clinched his hat trick minutes earlier in an already-sealed 9-3 Ohio victory.

(The rest of the team) is a big part of the hat trick

Hanley said. Some of the goals were kind of weak -the set up is nice it's a rebound -I'm scoring into a wide-open net.

The Bobcats (21-7-5) made short work of the visiting Division II RedHawks (11-12-2), posting convincing wins Friday and Saturday night while outplaying Miami all over the ice.

Ohio got the weekend rolling with a 6-2 victory, coach Dan Morris' 100th win as Ohio's head coach.

It's a milestone that I kind of shared with my first recruits Morris said. Nick Bassarab

Daniel Richardson -they were all here with me my first year. It's a milestone for me but it's a milestone for them; they get to see 100 wins and that's a great achievement for them as well.
