Letter from the associate editor

In the top right-hand corner of the Opinion page The Post is, starting today, beginning a daily count of the amount of Post publishing days that have passed while the university continues to keep its unprofessional and ugly new front door to its home page online.

As my esteemed colleague Lindsey Nelson points out in a Between the Lines column today, perhaps the university could use the new design as the front page of its admissions page. And that is also not to say that some of the features, such as videos, buddy icons and ring tones are not, at the very least, kind of fun. But to use the page as the front door for the university gives it a childish and immature face and is an insult to current students, faculty, administrators, potential employers of OU students and anyone else above the age of 18.

So, for as long as it takes, we want to remind the university about how we feel about the Web site and that we think it's against the university's best interests to keep the new front door. We're prepared to go all the way to June. But, hopefully, it won't come to that.
