This weekend's Ohio baseball home-opening series against Le Moyne has been cancelled because of wet field conditions and this weekend's weather forecast.
The Bobcats' home opener will now be March 19 against Michigan at Bob Wren Stadium. Saturday's double-header will start at 1 p.m. and the series finale will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Bobcats to play eight games over break While most Ohio students will spend their spring breaks relaxing, the Ohio baseball team (3-6 overall) will use the week to continue preparations for its Mid-American Conference opener March 25 against Miami.
Our spring break is not a flowery
go down to Florida spend the whole week there play baseball everyday
Ohio coach Joe Carbone said. We have to get ready for our conference season
so it's business as usual. The Bobcats will play host to Michigan for three games at the beginning of the week and then travel to Harrisonburg, Va., to take on James Madison before returning to Athens to take on conference rival Miami.
Carbone said the coaching staff would continue evaluating each player before making the final decision on who plays in the MAC series opener.
We need to look at a lot of guys and see who deserves to be the top starters against Miami and who deserves to play
he said. Some guys are playing well
some guys are not playing so well
so we decide once it comes to Miami who is going to play. In other news and notes Through the first nine games of the season, Brian Colopy is leading the team with a .395 batting average. In 38 at-bats, he has 15 hits, including a home run and seven runs batted in.
