Ohio baseball standouts Anthony Gressick and Ben Crabtree were named East Division Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, by the Mid-American Conference.
I thought they both did a great job this past weekend. I congratulate those two kids because they are great kids; they play hard
they hustle and they are real team players coach Joe Carbone said.
Both players have stepped up to the plate this year. Each are statistical leaders for the Bobcats -Gressick with 22 RBIs and Crabtree with 29 hits.
Gressick earned his accolades striking out 15 batters and going eight and a third innings in his appearance against the Eagles. Both were career-highs. Despite facing 34 batters, Gressick allowed only two hits.
Crabtree went 9-for-20 in the series against Eastern Michigan, tallying seven RBIs. His home run on Friday tied him with Jason Arbinger for seventh all-time in Ohio history.
Gressick commented on his performance against Otterbein, focusing on his team's success more so than personal awards.
I went out there and tried to throw strikes
said Gressick. It's always nice to get honors like that
but the best thing is we won the game
so it was a double bonus.
Teams head to national tournament The Ohio men's and women's club volleyball teams traveled to Kansas City, Mo., Wednesday for the National Intramural Recreation Sports Association national tournament.
Going into the tournament, the Bobcat women were ranked 25 out of 64 teams in their division.
This season we beat Ohio State
Kentucky
Central Michigan and Purdue
and they're ranked higher than 15
women's team president Traci Leone said. We're seeded 25 right now
but we think we can finish in the top 10.
Ohio rivals Ohio State, Miami, Kentucky, Toledo and Bowling Green will be in attendance.
We also get to play teams from California who we haven't played during the season
