A Saturday night and Sunday morning walk down Court Street looked like any other weekend night Uptown with lines of partygoers outside the bars. The only uncharacteristic element was additional police at every corner.
The night of the time change, where bars close an hour early, was uneventful, Ohio University spokesman Jack Jeffery said.
He said there were three additional OU police officers brought in for the night. However, the chief of the Athens Police Department could not be reached for comment.
The high police presence intended to guard off any possible time-change problems, although the most recent major time-change incident happened nearly a decade ago.
