'Cats swept by Zips at home

Jenny Tisevich took full advantage of her last series at home.

The senior second baseman belted two home runs in her final home series as a Bobcat, but it was not enough as the 'Cats lost all three games to Akron.

Akron pitcher Tina McCauley was dominant on the mound. She held Ohio to two runs and struck out 19 in 16 innings of work. She collected two of the three wins. Coach Roanna Brazier had nothing but praise for the ace.

She threw excellent against us

Brazier said. They couldn't have asked for a better performance from Tina. I mean that is incredible with as good of hitters as we have. Kudos to her.

She kept us on our toes Tisevich said after collecting one of the Bobcats two hits in Saturday's doubleheader. She mixed things up. She went inside and outside

up and down. Even though she didn't get her change-up over

it kept us on our toes.

Akron came out strong in game one by collecting runs in both the first and second innings to go up 2-0. The Bobcats rebounded in the bottom of the second when Tisevich smashed a solo home run over the left-centerfield wall to make the score. That hit would be the last of the Bobcats offense. Akron would go on to add three more runs to take game one 5-1.

Ohio got on the board first in game two when Cathy Walters drove in Kelly Rodriguez with a single to left. After being shut out for the first five innings, Akron put a run on the board in the sixth to even up the score and send the game to extra innings.

Akron did not waste any time in the extra innings when they scored the game winning run in the top of the eighth to win game two 2-1.

In game three, Ohio and Akron would trade runs back and forth to make it a 3-3 game going into the seventh inning. With two outs and no runners on, Akron's offense exploded for four runs to put the game out of reach and win game three 7-4.

The series between Akron and Ohio marked the return of former player and Coach Julie Wright. Wright said she felt that the trip back to Athens was a great experience.

I didn't think it was going to be any big deal at first

Wright said. When I got back to the campus

though

it felt really special to be here.

Ohio will finish the season when they travel to Buffalo for a three-game series Saturday.
