Local musicians have contributed songs to a benefit CD for a former member of their ranks.
Musician and journalist Troy Gregorino was diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after leaving Athens, Ohio, for Athens, Ga., last year.
Gregorino, who wrote about music and culture for The Athens Insider and played regular concerts around town, will receive all the proceeds from Girl With No Name: A Benefit for Troy Gregorino
said Jim Harris, who produced and coordinated the album.
I'm inferring that (cancer) put him and his family into a situation that they probably didn't anticipate Harris said.
The CD's liner notes read, Thank you Troy for being the type of person who could inspire a project such as this. Harris said the message refers to how quickly musicians responded to his call for contributions.
It was just over two months from idea to product Harris said.
The album was mastered, pressed and available for sale in the span of last weekend.
