Mother's Day falls during Ohio University's Moms' Weekend, and many activities have been planned around campus for students to enjoy with their mothers.
To begin the weekend, the University Program Council will be sponsoring comedian Judy Gold, who has worked in television, film, theater and comedy. Gold will perform at 8 p.m. today at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
Tickets are available at the Mem Aud box office. Prices are $8 for general admission and $5 for students.
If students would rather enjoy the outdoors with their moms, they can take them to one of the baseball games at 7 p.m. today and Saturday, or 1 p.m. Sunday. Ohio is playing Ball State, and tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for children and free for OU students.
Events today also include Laughter After Dark from midnight until 2 a.m. in the Front Room of Baker University Center with comedian Steve Caminetti. Admission is free.
Freshman Lauren Fortier booked her own activities for her mom.
As a surprise
I booked my mom a massage at Ping. She went to school here so she loves coming back to see everything. I'm really excited Fortier said.
Other students plan to give their moms the bar scene experience.
I'm going to take my mom with me to the bars
then on Saturday we're going to the Nelsonville Antique Mall to shop
