Offensive threat eager to return to play with team

When Lindsey Price scored her first collegiate goal, and the team's only goal against Michigan in just the fifth game last fall, she didn't know she would be the only Bobcat named to the All-MAC freshman team and a face to watch for next season.

Price discussed her approach to her collegiate athletic career.

I was really nervous coming in because I didn't know what to expect

Price said. I tried to push myself really hard during practice and tried to get better.

Head coach Stacy Strauss noted the preparations Price took in the preseason -continual play and the self-discipline to work out on her own -as contributing to her ability to stand out when she came to Ohio in late summer.

Her touch on the ball really set her apart -that comes from a lot of playing a lot of competitive work Strauss said. We were looking at the beginning of the season for another person to add into our offense who would score goals

and she clearly fit that role.

Price earned a spot as the only freshman to start in 18 games and play in all 19 games, scoring three goals for the season and assisting three game-winning goals.

Strauss said that Price helped the Bobcats' offense to be a real threat to their opponents last fall. Price finished the season ranking third on the team in number of points, goals, game-winning goals and assists in her first season last fall behind only one returning player.

Her teammate, and fellow forward, sophomore Larissa Najjar, said that Price's talent is a major contribution to the team.

She's really a good technical player

Najjar said. She's creative up top. She's fast (off-the-ball) and she's a quick forward (on-the-ball). She's really good at 1-on-1 skills.

Strauss agreed, noting that Price has an understanding of the offensive movement, such as when to make runs to get open for a pass.

Price continued to develop during the Bobcat's 15 spring exhibition games.

She was consistent

scored a lot of goals

and meshed well with all the players during the spring season

Strauss said.

Eager to be playing again with her team in the fall, Price cited her motivation to play well.

I just look up to the older girls and how hard they work and all the accomplishments they've got

Price said. I just want to be like that.

Najjar, as one of the older girls

predicted Price's success in contributing to a winning season that would help the team reach its annual goal of winning the MAC Championships and getting an NCAA tournament bid.

I think she'll be a huge asset offensively

obviously in scoring goals and getting assists
