Jet Set Youth's wit, spontaneity and the occasional pair of tight pants holds audiences spellbound and bamboozled when they see and hear this quartet.
The group's unpredictability and indecisiveness set it apart -it has never played a song the same way twice, it makes up songs on the spot and it does not make a set list before taking the stage.
We really do live for the moment. If we do want to stretch a song out
we're not like 'Well we usually play this for three minutes.' No
we just go. If the crowd's digging it
we just keep on going
bassist Russell Fox said.
Jet Set Youth's sound is like a big kettle of gumbo with chunks of jazz, blues, funk and pop rock, and this leaves unexpected swings in melodies and beats pleasing to an assortment of music fans' pallets.
You can put your fists up or kick up a leg and be like
'All right
these guys are cool.' Hippity-hoppity wham and the whole shebang
guitarist and vocalist Josh Rinehammer said.
Although the group thinks that lyrics are important for any band if it intends to be successful on the radio, Jet Set Youth focuses on its music first and enjoys playing solely instrumental songs that the members think better reflect their musical talents and instantaneous feelings.
People that hear us generally like us. I mean
not to say that everybody loves Jet Set Youth
but we got the hipsters
