A man's body was found near the intersection of Byard and Pratt streets, near West Washington Street, at about 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to a report filed by the Athens Police Department.
The man was identified at the scene as Brad S. White, 43, of Athens. Investigators said they discovered no evidence of foul play during their preliminary investigation.
White's body was taken from the scene to Jager & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., at the request of the Athens County Coroner's Office. His body was then transported to Montgomery County, where an autopsy will be performed to determine his cause of death.
Lt. John Withers of the Athens Police Department said yesterday that White's cause of death will not be known until the autopsy is completed in six to eight weeks.
The Montgomery County Coroner's Office also confirmed that an initial exam had been performed on White's body but said no further information regarding his death could be released as of press time.
