Football success causes loyalty split

I feel like I was kissing the most beautiful girl, and then she kicked me directly in the groin.

I saw the light, and then the electricity went out.

Here is my weekend recap: Friday night was my first Bobcat football experience. I partook in the pre-game festivities. I stood on the grassy hill during the game. I banged my thunder sticks together.

Thirteen seconds into the game, Pitt scored on the kickoff. The Bobcats held their ground and did not let the Panthers score until seven seconds to go in regulation.

Dion Byrum picking off Pitt quarterback Tyler Palko's pass in overtime to win was the ideal way to end the game.

The post-game experience was amazing. The campus was electrifying, and the students were, for lack of a better word, pumped.

Maybe I can live with Bobcat football. Maybe there is room in my heart for two college teams. Maybe I can get into Bobcat football just as much as Buckeye football. The post-game festivities proved better than the pre-game festivities as I was awed by police officers on horses and an illuminated couch. My Friday ended early Saturday morning. I slept Friday off and watched Michigan lose to a very impressive Notre Dame football team.

Watching the Wolverines lose was very enjoyable, especially because my roommate is a Michigan fan.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.

I refused to watch the Ohio State versus Texas game in a hectic and distracting environment so I stayed in my dorm to watch the game. I let myself get emotionally involved in the game.

When Justin Zwick fumbled the ball in the fourth quarter and the Buckeye loss was inevitable, my heart stopped.

The Buckeye loss and the Bobcat win did not offset each other.

I proceeded to kick walls, throw stuff and scream profanities.

I felt like my dog got ran over by a car.

I know that I am a Bobcat and not a Buckeye, but I have not gone through the ups and downs with Bobcat football that I have gone through with Buckeye football. If you have lived in Ohio your whole life, then you are a Buckeye regardless.

Bobcat football is the new, intriguing girl that I just met, but have not yet fallen in love with. Buckeye football is the amazing girl who it is impossible to ignore.

The mood on campus abruptly altered from the previous night. Everyone was upset. Several people saw my Ohio State T-shirt and screamed profanities about Texas. I personally did not want to talk about the game.

My second Saturday as an Ohio University student consisted of eight hours of football, four hours of celebration, and eight hours of heart break. I never would have expected so much drama in my second weekend of college, and I do not think I will be able to handle another.
