Consumers at University Mall on East State Street want to see more clothing and department stores as the shopping center develops, according to a pre-Christmas survey conducted by two men who recently purchased the property.
Local businessmen Brent Hayes and Tom Parfitt placed a bid several months ago and purchased the facility from a holding company Dec. 15 for $4.2 million.
Two weeks later, the new owners asked about 300 holiday shoppers to recommend the stores they want at the mall. Participants' names were entered in a drawing for mall gift certificates.
Old Navy topped the list of most popular responses, followed by Target, Kohl's and JCPenney, Parfitt said.
Respondents also frequently requested Victoria's Secret, Jo-Ann Fabrics and unspecified sporting goods stores, as well as clothing stores such as A+
