The Ohio swimming and diving team returns to Mid-American Conference action against Buffalo after two non-conference dual meets last weekend.
The last time the Ohio men (1-3 overall, 0-1 MAC) swam a conference opponent in a dual meet was in October against Eastern Michigan. The women (5-1-1, 2-1-1 MAC) have not competed in a conference dual meet since November, when they swam against Akron.
Coach Greg Werner said it is always good to compete against conference schools.
It's an opportunity to race again
compete and hopefully build towards better things in the future he said. But it's also an opportunity to send a message to a conference school on both sides
the men's and women's team
for the next time we see them.
Competing against conference opponents allows Ohio to see where they are at in their training and how they stack up against other teams in the MAC.
It's good to see who we'll be up against at the end of the year and to see where we are right now against them
said swimmer Greg Flecher.
The schedule is set up where the team competes against non-conference schools first and finishes the season swimming against conference schools.
We want to do that so we're racing against each other
increasing the level of excitement and focus
so hopefully leading to the championships where we can have a great environment
a great atmosphere and great performances
Werner said of the meet schedule.
Coming into tomorrow's dual meet, the Ohio men have lost their last two dual meets to Buffalo.
We would like to top them this year and get another dual meet win to double our dual meet win total from last year
Werner said.
Werner said even though the Buffalo women have a 0-4 conference record coming into the meet, they are performing well.
Swimmer Michaela Hahn-Lawson said competing at home is always good.
It's at home
