Turnovers would prove to be the Ohio women's basketball team's downfall once again as their upset bid at Bowling Green came up short.
Despite shooting over 50 percent from the field and holding a three-point halftime lead, the Bobcats' 26 turnovers and an overpowering Bowling Green offense proved to be too much in an eventual 77-63 Ohio loss.
(Turnovers) have plagued us all year
coach Lynn Bria said.
It did not look good early for Ohio as Bowling Green would take advantage of seven Bobcat turnovers in the first seven minutes to jump out to an early 14-2 lead.
Down by four points with 3:15 remaining in the half, Ohio's offense finally began to click. Consecutive three-pointers from Quintana Ward and Lauren Revesz would give the Bobcats their first lead of the game to end the half 26-23.
Ward led all scorers in the first half with 8 points and would finish with a season high 16 points.
Bria said that she was impressed with Ward's play.
After a hot start to the half, Bowling Green would finish the first half shooting 28 percent from the field. Bowling Green's frontcourt tandem of Ali Mann and Carin Horne could only manage three points apiece in the frame.
Right after the break, Rachel Frederick knocked down a three-pointer with 15:30 remaining to give Ohio its last lead at 34-31.
Bowling Green's offense finally woke up and went on a 21-3 run to put the Bobcats away. After being held to a combined 6 points in the first half, the duo of Mann and Horne paced the Falcon attack with 27 points between them.
Frederick led all scorers with 18 points.
Ohio will be back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they take on Akron in The Convo. 17
