Ohio University dropped its misdemeanor charge yesterday against a graduate student accused of inducing panic Thursday with a bike sticker that read, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb.
Authorities determined Patrick Hanlin meant no harm and the sticker was actually the name of a punk-rock band from Pensacola, Fla., according to an OU news release.
Police found Hanlin's bicycle, bearing a sticker that read This Bike is a Pipe Bomb
chained to a railing at The Oasis early Thursday morning.
Hanlin claimed ownership of the bike shortly after local authorities and a Columbus bomb squad determined that it posed no threat.
