Collaborative exhibition colors Trisolini walls

Colorful designs provide a stark contrast to the bare walls of the Trisolini Gallery as the printmaking department showcases its Print Bonanza.

For the collaborative exhibition, faculty and students in Ohio University's College of Fine Arts School of Art created 1,002 postcards by altering previously completed artwork. Senior printmaker Nicole Goldman said the pieces became more intimate by cropping them.

The artists created the postcards using a variety of techniques such as oil painting and mixed media, resulting in many colors, patterns, textures and messages. Rebecca Clune, a senior printmaker, said she was impressed by how well all the different styles of art came together to form one large, collaborative project.

During the exhibition, two graduate students, Adriane Schramm and Dawn Gettler, are displaying a project about people's deepest desires. The students distributed about 150 postcards in Athens, requesting people to write down their deepest desires; about 50 people returned cards.

Schramm, a painting graduate student, said that she had expected a large amount of sexual responses, but nearly all replies wished for happiness instead.

The post cards can be purchased for $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds of the exhibition will help send 25 students and print faculty to the Southern Graphics Council International Conference held in Madison, Wis.

The exhibition will continue through Saturday. Postcards also will be on sale today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Seigfred Hall's lobby.
