For $15, dine a day the Athens way

Modeling after the Food Network's hit television show, $40 a Day

The Post hit the bricks of Athens in search of the best, unique restaurants in which to spend a mere $15 in a day. With so many options to choose from, even students with the tightest budget can afford a fabulous meal that doesn't involve Ramen noodles.

Breakfast: Donkey Coffee and Espresso, 17 1/2 W. Washington St., is a great place for caffeine addicts to start their day and keep it going. A regular cup of coffee at $1.65 might seem pricey, but patrons are entitled to free refills the rest of the day.

Some regulars come in here 10 15 times a day consistently

said general manager Michael Winterhalter.

The inviting atmosphere, caf+

and they all come out saying this is the best hot dog they've ever had

said manager Ryan Stolz.

If the world's best hot dogs aren't reason enough to persuade you to go to O'Betty's, the quirky decor and hot dog museum alone is worth checking out.

I like the ambiance

I love the food

and the service is great - you can't beat it

said Athens resident Dale Minor. O'Betty's is open from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Stolz's pick is the Salome, a Chicago-style hot dog.

After the bars close, if you find yourself hungry with $2.25 to spare, indulge in the fresh-cut, old-fashioned French fries.

Total: 1 Salome hot dog: $3.00, 1 soda: $1.00 = $4.00 Snack: Ramen noodles: 39 cents

Day's total: $13.79 + tax = priceless
