The Ohio baseball team will try to extend its early season two-game winning streak today against Cleveland State University.
The Bobcats (3-3) are coming off Sunday's 13-2 drubbing of Rio Grande, which saw seven Ohio players record hits. The offense has started the season averaging more than eight runs per game, including three outbursts of at least 10 runs.
We still are taking too many pitches we should be swinging at
but I think that's early season choices coach Joe Carbone said after Sunday's game. Hopefully we're settling in a little bit.
The offense has featured production throughout the lineup, as six players have at least five hits thus far. Anthony Gressick carries a six-game hitting streak into today's game. Gressick and Jon Vondrell are tied for the team lead with 10 hits a piece and the pair has also knocked in a total of 11 runs.
While Ohio has won back-to-back games, the Vikings dropped all three games of their opening series at Charlotte. Cleveland State, a member of the Horizon League, gave up a total of 38 runs and only managed to score six in the series. However, the Bobcats will not take them lightly.
We played them last year and they are a good team second baseman Dusty Hammond said. They play with us every game
so we're going to come out and play as hard as we usually do.
