BASEBALL PREVIEW: Bobcats return home

The Ohio baseball team returns home for a brief two-game home stand after a weekend series in Toledo. The Bobcats will face a familiar opponent tonight in Marshall, who played in the Mid-American Conference up until this season.

Last year Ohio took two of three games from Marshall in conference action.

Marshall (11-13 overall, 1-5 Conference USA) is coming off a series loss to Central Florida.

They'll have a good team

and they'll bring a lot to the table here when they come (tonight) Ohio coach Joe Carbone said.

The Bobcats (8-11 overall, 2-4 MAC) are coming off a series loss to the Toledo Rockets over the weekend. Ohio has lost four of its past seven games.

Carbone said the team is struggling in all aspects of the game as of late.

In its past seven games, Ohio has committed 23 errors. They currently have a .844 team fielding percentage.

However, the Bobcat offense has compiled a .283 team batting average coming into tonight's game.

Anthony Gressick currently leads the team with a .372 batting average. He also leads the Bobcats with 29 hits and 15 runs batted in this year.

The Bobcats are looking to even both their non-conference and home records, both of which now stand at 6-7. They have lost two of their three mid-week games this season, only winning last Wednesday's contest against Youngstown State.

Right-hander Zeke Isaacs will make his first start of the season. In his last outing against Northern Illinois, he pitched four innings, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out one. He has 6 2/3 innings of work under his belt this year in four appearances.

I thought he did a better job his last time out Carbone said. He's a guy that has all the ability in the world

and he's still trying to put it all together

so hopefully he does that sooner than later.

Ohio takes on Marshall at 6 p.m. today at Bob Wren Stadium.
