The Ohio women's lacrosse team does not have to stray from its home field for the rest of the season and it is doubtful that anyone on the squad is complaining.
Ohio has dropped three straight games and they will now look to turn around their season by playing their last three contests at home. Their first chance comes today when the Bobcats take on the Retrievers of the University of MarylandG
coach Allison Valentino said. We are pretty fortunate to have the opportunity to have a chance to get a win and rebound from our last loss.
The loss the 'Cats (3-10) want to rebound from was a 13-3 shellacking delivered by No. 19 Vanderbilt last Friday in Nashville, Tenn.
In that game, the Bobcats committed 21 turnovers.
We have to take care of the ball and we need to limit their top two scorers because we have to limit UMBC's opportunities Valentino said. We haven't had a ton of turnaround time we've had two good practices and we are really looking forward to a chance at a win.
Turnovers have been Ohio's primary weakness this season and the team is trying to snap its streak of three games with over 20 turnovers. While the Bobcats have been focusing on cutting down on turnovers, the team is glad to take a break from traveling. This will help the team stay in a rhythm from its positive practices and play in a comfortable setting, Valentino said.
We've traveled a lot this season and we are looking forward to playing at home
Valentino said. We've got some nice weather and are expecting some nice crowds for our last home games.
The Retrievers (8-6) out of the American East Conference are coming off a 23-8 victory against Vermont. Their trip to Athens will be the first of a three-game road swing for them.
The Bobcats will begin their three-game homestand today -
