The Athens County Commissioners cancelled a tax abatement for Classic Brands yesterday because the company failed to create as many jobs as it had promised.
Classic Brands, the Budweiser beer distributor located in Albany, received the tax abatement when it expanded its warehouse in 2003.
In other news, the commissioners will accept a portion of an existing, unnamed road in The Plains as county property.
The owner of the property offered the road to the township so that the county will maintain it.
The commissioners are waiting to accept the road officially because the county engineer's office needs to survey it.
