Heading the Fight for Financial Aid, Student Senate is in the process of finalizing its plans for the program in anticipation of the upcoming election.
The Fight for Financial Aid, which started last quarter, centers around campaigns for the November election, and is aimed toward informing students and the community of the cuts involved in financial aid and how they have voted on it in the past
said Ben Frech, chair of State and Federal Affairs.
Student Senate plans to begin a public relations campaign during the election season to discuss the importance of financial aid, the issues surrounding it and how it will affect individual students, Frech said, adding that senate will organize public forums and advertise in The Post.
Financial aid is an issue that politicians dodge a lot; it is something that they continuously try to avoid he said.
Student Senate is also creating a web page that will include information about off-campus living situations, focusing on landlords, said Morgan Allen, Off Campus Life senator.
Also at the meeting, Tim Vonville, City and County Affairs senator, said this quarter the OU Police Department will implement a new procedure where students caught violating alcohol policies will have a letter stating the nature of the offense sent to the address on that person's drivers license.
Wednesday, after the adjournment of the Student Senate meeting, Senate President Brian Footer will host a press conference discussing items including Vision Ohio and Senate Bill 24, a bill introduced in Ohio's legislature that recommended schools develop a policy against classroom ideological discrimination.
