Attendance has been low at events for this year's Conservative Week at Ohio University, but College Republicans President Jordan Carr hopes tonight's keynote speaker will bring a crowd.
Peter Schweizer is the author of The New York Times bestselling book, Do As I Say (Not as I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy and will speak tonight at 7 in Bentley Hall Room 132.
He delivers an excellent message, Carr said.
In his speech, Schweizer will discuss his book, which exposes the hypocrisy in the lives of top liberals, including Michael Moore and Al Franken, Carr said.
I hope there is a good turnout
Carr said. I have encouraged many people to go because it will be an eye-opening speech.
An open question and answer forum will follow Schweizer's speech and encourage the audience to not only ask questions but voice their own opinions, he said.
Schweizer shows how bankrupt some liberal ideas are and I think his presentation will give everyone in attendance a new perspective Carr said.
This series of events is an excellent way to get people to take another look at what it means to be conservative and what it means to different people at different levels in politics, Athens County Auditor Jill Thompson said.
This is a good thing for the College Republicans to do to get their message out to other students at OU
Thompson said.
At the start of Conservative Week, Thompson, State Rep. Jimmy Stewart and State Rep. Chuck Blasdel spoke and answered questions from the audience.
I thought it went very well and I was pleased to participate
Thompson said.
Screenings of two Penn and Teller Bullshit episodes were shown last night, and Tuesday night featured a discussion of the importance of saving Social Security through reform given by Nicola Moore, a senior policy expert with Students for Saving Social Security.
